Raffertys Coastal Run is nearly here, after a couple of false starts the stars have aligned, the course is set and waiting for you!
Race Bibs & Numbers
New 2023 race bibs have been printed and will be available to pick up from registration on Friday evening (5:30pm to 7:30pm) and Saturday morning (from 6:30am). If you have held onto your 2022 bib it is important that you don’t run with this and you pick up your new number for this weekend. You will need to know your race bib number for collection.
Event Program & Safety Briefing
The Event Safety Briefing is available below via video link. Please ensure you watch this video prior to attending. It could be quite hot on Saturday so we recommend you carry more water than you normally would and make sure you wear adequate sun protection. Remember it is mandatory that all runners carry with them a minimum 500ml water bottle or hydration pack (or similar) to refill at the Aid Stations out on course. This is a minimum, more is recommended! There will also be NO CUPS at the aid stations. Soft flasks and collapsible cups will be available for sale at registration for those that need them.
Please note, due to the timing of the high tide and prevailing swell/wind conditions predicted for Saturday we have made a minor course adjustment to the 36km course, please see the article below for details. This is just for the 36km course, the 22km, 12km and Kids course remain unchanged.
36km Course Change
Due to the time and height of the high tide on Saturday and the prevailing swell/wind conditions the 36km course will have a minor course change. The erosion at the far end of Catherine Hill Bay, south of the pier, means at high tide the waves reach all the way back to the cliff edges. Our team has been out in that location this week at high tide to assess the risk and we have determined the best course of action is to avoid that section. Thankfully, it is relatively easy to avoid it.
The 36km course will now have a short 1km diversion on the road through Catherine Hill Bay before dropping back onto Moonee Beach and rejoining the normal race route. This will be the same in both directions, on the way out (heading south) and the way back (heading north). You can see the new section of course marked on the Google Map link HERE.
This section of the course will be heavily marked and marshals and traffic controllers will be in position at critical locations. This reroute won’t change the overall course distance. Thank you for your understanding of why this late change was necessary.
