It’s time to get excited to run the Raffertys Coastal Run, sponsored by Lake Macquarie City Council. The 2020 version of the event was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so we’re all in and excited for the 2021 event.
Hosted from the magnificent Raffertys Resort on the shores of beautiful Lake Macquarie, runners have the option of three course distances: 12km, 22km and 36km accommodating runners of all abilities. Starting and finishing at Raffertys Resort, the trail snakes through the Wallarah National Park taking in the sites of beautiful Lake Macquarie and the stunning coastline of historic Catherine Hill Bay and the Munmorah Conservation Area.
The terrain is varied – bushland single track, fire trail, coastal tracks, rock platforms and beach running all feature to challenge and excite the most discerning of trail runners.
An official 1km Kids Fun Run is also on offer with all little trail runners receiving a finishers medal and race number, just like their parents.
We encourage all runners to take the opportunity to enjoy a full weekend away in the Lake Macquarie region. The diversity of Lake Mac makes it the perfect playground to explore, from sweeping arcs of golden coasts to the rolling green mountain forest, explore the incredible range of natural environments. Lake Mac is a city unlike any other, there’s something for the whole family.
